How does this service benefit your specialty?
o CDI will supply you with high-resolution images (36 megapixels) so that you can track minute changes in skin lesions more easily.
o CDI will upload the images to your hard drive so that you can add these images to the patient’s medical record.
o Carolina Dermal Imaging makes dermal imaging sessions convenient for both you and the patient because we come to your clinic to conduct the imaging sessions.
o There is no cost to you for this service. We only ask that you provide an appropriate room to conduct the dermal imaging sessions. We may also need a member of your staff to accompany the patient during the session.
Description of services
During the dermal imaging session a chaperone will accompany Paul and approximately 40 images of the patient’s skin surface will be taken. Special emphasis will be placed on any pigmented lesions or dysplastic nevi that may be of concern to you. After the session the images will be processed and uploaded to either a CD or a digital record in your office so that you can view them during the patient’s next appointment.
How much does a dermal imaging session cost the patient?
One session costs $325 and full payment is expected at the time of service in the form of cash, personal check, Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover.
CDI does not contract with medical insurance companies and does not file claims. Most insurance companies do not cover dermal imaging; it is the patient’s responsibility to check their benefits and file a claim for reimbursement. The CPT code for this procedure is 96904.
